AR 240 Aircraft – Remotely Controlled Armament

As reconnaissance machines, each of the AR 240A military models aircraft carried a vertically-mounted Rb 50/30 camera in the rear of each engine nacelle. Annular cooling intakes were fitted in place of the conventional spinners used on earlier machines.

In an attempt to cure the appalling handling of the AR 240 V1 and V2, the cockpit section was moved forward from its original, more conventional position.

Although apparently similar to the wings used previously, the flying surfaces of the  were entirety new and of laminar tow section.

Originally, the AR 240 project hinged around a system of remotely-controlled gun barrettes and their potential for bomber-destroying.

Arado made many attempts to solve the AR 240s inherently poor flying qualities. This included auxiliary fins above and below the tail cone of the A-Os.
